He saves her a seat at school every Friday. He puts a protective force field around her. He makes her play-do hearts. When he finds something interesting, like a donut with a happy face on it, she’s the first one he wants to show. He talks about her all the time, and I’ve heard she does the same. She’s even told her mom that she thinks she’s in love. Their conversations on this day revolved around toy guns, Easter baskets, and snakes.
They are so sweet to watch.
Who knows, maybe one day, far in the future, they’ll be one of those stories that starts with “We met when we were just kids…”
Maybe.

How can he be a little boy one moment and seem way too grown up in another? But still so sweet. I love the force field gesture-- wow.
