New Work

I've been working like crazy in my studio, lately. Unfortunately, I can't show the book I've been working on just yet. I do, however, have a little something to show you. I recently entered a contest and was forced to get a little creative with my illustrations. Since my scanner's not working, I ended up making sketches, taking pictures of them with my phone, and emailing them to myself. I then colored everything in Photoshop. Here's one of six panels I did for the contest:

Like I've mentioned before, digital illustration is not my strong suit, but I am really happy with the result of these latest illustrations. I will show you the whole storyboard eventually. At the moment, though, I am working on a manuscript for these characters, so I don't want to reveal too much!

Enjoy the weekend!

Two Boys and a Gator

I find these pictures hilariously cute.

If it had been up to August, I think he would've driven cousin Hunter to Canada. Thankfully, the battery gave out long before they reached the border.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

...or forgetful. I hope you all haven't given up on this little blog. I'm still here, I've just been really busy. The end of the school year is always hectic, add to that several art jobs, a vacation, and some technological frustrations, and this poor little blog has been put on the back burner.

**I finished up my first year teaching middle and high school art. It was a once a week class for our homeschool co-op, and it was a stretch for me. I'm used to teaching K-2nd grade who are just happy to make anything. But with MS and HS students, I can't just throw glitter, glue sticks and scissors in front of them and tell them to create. They have expectations! I really wanted to teach these kids some art foundations through fun projects. It was quite a learning experience for all of us, and I can't tell you how proud I was of each student! They constantly surprised and wowed me. I'm looking forward to another year teaching this age group. And I'll try to not wear my denim shirt so much, as my daughter pointed out to me.

**I'm working on a book project this summer! I'm super excited about this project, but I can't share any pictures with you yet. I will share, though, as soon as I can, so stay tuned!

**We went to Yellowstone National Park last week where we hiked trails, witnessed breathtaking views, and rode buffaloes. Okay, maybe we didn't ride any bison, but we did see a variety of wildlife. I will share pictures with you as soon as I get them transferred from my husband's computer.

**And my camera hates me. How do I know that my camera hates me? He decided to quit working right before we left for one of the most picturesque places in the world. He also left me this note:

Yeah. So that's why I'm not sharing any pictures from our vacation. We have a lot of phone pictures, but like I said, they're not on this computer yet. So for now, you'll have to put up with my roughly drawn photoshop pictures. My scanner's quit working, too. She left me this note:

That's it for now. I'll be back soon to share pics of our vacation, and my studio redesign!
