Well, it has been one whole year since I started this blogging adventure. One year! I wanted to start blogging long before, but I was apprehensive about the whole thing. I wasn't sure about putting myself "out there" for the whole world to view. Granted, I don't have a thousand hits a day (I'm lucky if it reaches the into the twenty range), and I usually post the better parts of my life, which tends to glamorize my existence and not the
nitty-gritty of everyday living. But, still the thought of putting my life and my work on the web for the world to see was a bit intimidating. I overcame my fears, though, and jumped into the enormous world of blogging, and here I am...one year later...loving this whole process. And, like I said, if no one ever read my blog, I would still post. This is an outlet for me, a journal, it's my memories, it's something I want to be able to look back on as my life presses forward. So, I'm celebrating a year's worth of memories posted.
And how do I celebrate? I usually treat myself to something edible...a chocolate chip cookie perhaps. (Any excuse to have dessert!)
AND...in celebrating, I wanted to share my excitement with you. So, my friends, I'm having my very first giveaway! The winners will receive a signed print of one of the following paintings:
What do you need to do? Just tell me your favorite dessert, drop it off in my comment box, and the winners will be randomly selected next Thursday!
So, I'll start...my favorite dessert is fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Yum!

Yellow cake and chocolate frosting - from a box and a betty crocker tub. I know it's crazy when there are so many good desserts out there, but it reminds me of my mom. She'd make one for me every year for my birthday and two weeks ago was my first birthday without her, and it made for a very sad day. Think I'll go make myself a yellow cake with choc frosting...
ReplyDeleteOn a happier note, I just stumbled onto your blog from your cute Illustration Friday post, and I love it! Congrats on 1 year! I'm just starting and finding inspiration in those who've been doing it longer. Yours is great! (And I also have a dog related etsy store - www.thegoodlifesf.etsy.com)
although I can't bear to think about food right now (you read our stomach bug post)...my favorite is...well really anything sweet! I have such a sweet tooth! But for the sake of picking one thing...I will say something we call "Kenzie cake"...it is a box cake that my mom "doctors" up to be REALLY good!! You poke holes in it and pour in this really sweet mixture of stuff (I have never really made it myself!) and it makes the cake super moist and you put cool whip as the icing! It's YUMMY!!!! (Even coming off a stomach virus it sounds good!) We call it "Kenzie cake" because before I had any of my children now I was pregnant with a baby that I lost. To celebrate me finding out I was pregnant my mom made the cake (I can't even remember what we called it before then) and I had wanted to name the baby McKenzie and call her Kenzie if the baby was a girl of course...so we called the cake Kenzie cake in honor of that baby...and then a couple weeks later I lost that pregnancy. We still lovingly refer to that cake as Kenzie cake though and I always think about that sweet baby every time we eat it!!! Here I am 3 healthy babies later and so grateful for the gift of my children...every year we celebrate with a kenzie cake!

ReplyDeleteHi -
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Favorite Dessert? Oh where do I begin. I could probably give you quite an extensive list. So, I'll spare you and just say that at work I usually like to stop by Cookie Cookery for some white chocolate chip cookies. However, since I've become pregnant again, baby seems to prefer a stop at the Sees Candy counter - soft centers with nuts on the inside, milk chocolate on the outside. YUM! I think this baby has "higher tastes" than the rest of our family is acustomed to.
Favorite dessert: ice cream. Esp. gelatto. It was a must when we were in Europe!
ReplyDeleteFavorite dessert is chocolate chip cookies with extra chips and pecans, then cheese cake and then anything chocolate. I think I would work for chocolate.
ReplyDeleteLove ya and your blog
Aunt Donnie
Favorite desert -whipped cream plain
ReplyDeleteNessa Dee, you're my blogging hero!
ReplyDeleteThanks for allowing us to sneak a peek at your family's fun.
Ice cream - any variety, crunchy, but never coffee-flavored. That and a good snickerdoodle.
I'm especially fond of the dragonfly. :)

My fave dessert is cheesecake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSince I haven't had ice cream and can't get it here, I would say that my favorite is Maggie Moos Better Batter Ice Cream w/ Choc Chip cookie dough, oreos, and brownie's mixed into it. Yum!
ReplyDeleteToday my favorite dessert is a rich, warm chocolate brownie with vanilla bean ice cream on top and this great homemade butter sauce topping. It is pure heaven!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I found your blog! Happy one year! I love your art work and your pictures. So thanks for sharing your life.
My favorite dessert? Oh my, that would be like asking you who is your favorite child? Being a woman from the South, I must mention banana pudding. Being a traveler, I must mention real Italian cream cake and South American tres leches cake. Being a Roeder, I must mention any variety of brownie native to this planet. And being my mother's daughter, I must mention my greatest regret in life was not learning to make her renowned apple pie while I still had her with me. My closest facsimile, served warm with ice cream, though, does usher me closer to her presence with sweetness.
ReplyDeletedarn... am i too late? i'll give it a go...

ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 1st birthday blog! I just know it today, surely will come back. Your blog is gorgeous. Your dragonfly too.
homemade mocha brownies... "mrs. fields" recipe. They have chocolate chips, almond extract & coffee inside, then they're topped off with chocolate glaze and sliced almonds on top... yum!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteLayer cake, particularly chocolate layer cake. Seven layers, preferably. I had the perfect chocolate layer cake once. Just once. I'm still searching for another one like it. Mmmmmmm.....now you've done it. Gotta go find me some cake!
Oh, I don't think I could pick just one. I'll say chocolate molten lava cake from a Master Chef's restaurant where I used to work in college, creme brulee from the same restaurant, and my mom's homemade pumpkin pie. Oh, and coconut chip ice cream from Graeter's. Mmmm...
ReplyDeleteStrawberries with white cream! :-9
