Etsy Front Page

I made my very first Etsy treasury last Thursday of items made by talented members of Etsy Austin. I found out that the page I created made it to the front page of Etsy on Saturday!

This is a screenshot of the treasury I created on the front page of Etsy:

See my name right there:

Just thought I’d share.

In other news, I will have some new prints hitting the shop later today, so keep your eyes peeled.

Yummy goodness

Audrie spotted a magazine with homemade ice cream sandwiches on the cover of a magazine while in the checkout line at the grocery store. She then had permission to dash to the frozen section and grab a couple of flavors of ice cream before we finished checking out. We went home and created yummy goodness.

Signs of Spring

The outdoors have exploded with color over the last week. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’m loving every minute of it.

All of these gorgeous colors are surrounding our house at the moment; and combined with the chirping of the birds, these signs of spring are enough to make even grumpiest of grumpy pants happy.

Sneak Peek

Here’s a sneak peek of some of the work we’ve had done to the house recently:

We had these little columns beefed up with some moulding and trim to give them more character. As with the other trim work I will be showing you, these need to be painted, but aren’t they pretty?  Here’s a reminder of what they looked like before:

We also had our staircase lined with bead board, as well as the wall under the bar. This makes for easier cleanup when it comes to wiping hand and foot prints off  of the wall.

And did you notice those gorgeous things lining the bottoms of the walls? Here let me give you a closer look.

Here they are with my new rug from Marshalls:

Here they are with my fabulous Craigslist find:

[I bought four of those slipcovered Crate & Barrell chairs for $25 each. I was ecstatic. I still am ecstatic.]

Aren’t they purty, though? The baseboards, I mean. I didn’t know I could be so happy about baseboards, but they certainly add even more character to the house. And when you have a house that is the exact replica of the one across the street, adding unique touches make it stand out, and make it our own. I’ll post more pictures, hopefully better quality pictures of the final products once they’re all spiffy.

Dapper Dan

I know I promised pictures of the progress on our house, but that’s going to have to wait. The pictures I took weren’t great partly because I took them in low light, and partly because I didn’t bother to clean up the rooms beforehand. I don’t have the time to edit them or crop out all of the junk right now, so I’m giving you something else….a new friend.

Meet Dapper Dan:

Dapper-Dan

I’m not sure if he’s done yet, but I thought I’d let you all get acquainted. I kind of like his look, whimsical yet sophisticated. He’s a product of my growing obsession with the mustache.

Anyway, I’ll post house pics as soon as I get good at cropping out clutter.

Have a great weekend!

Boys will be boys

DSC_0119-2DSC_0125-2DSC_0127-2

A stick, a wooden gun, a couple of friends and an open field. It’s enough to keep a boy occupied all day.

Be back tomorrow with some pics of our latest house projects.
