I did this sketch way back in college, but it fits the topic, so I'm posting it. When I was in high school, my grandpa gave me a folder of pictures from various magazines, newspapers, church bulletins, etc. that he had gathered. They were pictures that he thought would make interesting and challenging subjects for art. This image came from those pictures. I still have the folder and look at it from time to time for references and ideas.
The elephant is a quick sketch I did tonight, just to get some drawing time in. He fits the topic, so I'm posting him, too!

I love your blog. Great pictures and sketches.
Excellent work. I really enjoyed these pieces :)
What a contrast between the two pieces. I like them both. Great detail in the old man, and you just can't go wrong with elephants. 8 )
Wow, you have an excellent range of style! I love the portrait best, but the elephant is very cute! Nice Job!

I anticipated that some of the best wrinkled faces would come under the 'graphite' category and this confims me in my thinking!
Thanks for the comment!
These pieces are great. The elephant is cute. Nice pose. Kind of reminds me of the Lumpy, from The Heffalump Movie!
Awesome detail - never pass up the chance to include an elephant.
Wow! Love the portrait of the old man. Lots of detail. The elephant is super cute too!
Checking out your blog again. Looking at your old posts. I love the Red Riding Hood picture!
