Happy Valentine's Day!

This is my latest digital illustration. I love this little robot. He is the main character of one of my books. This is the first time I've attempted to paint him digitally, and I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out.

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Three Zombies and a Robot

I love this picture. I love it when my kids unknowingly settle themselves in order by height. They do this quite often, usually in age order. It's quite easy for them since there's 5+ years between each child. Their ages aren't relevant in this case, though, but somehow they've managed to stair step themselves into another perfectly posed position... a great opportunity for a photo, even if it is of mindlessly basking in the glow of a television.

And here's a little guy I've been working on. He's not quite finished, but I'm growing fond of him, so I had to share. I bought some old Bingo cards from my favorite store, Cherry Tree Creative, and I've been searching for an opportunity to use them in my paintings. He was one such opportunity.

I think I'll call him Bingo, Original, I know.

He'll be available for sale soon, so if you're interested in him, leave me a comment.

Have a great weekend!

Another robot...

I might have a little obsession with robots.
This particular guy is for a little project I'm working on that hopefully it will lead to an even bigger project.
Only time [and a lot more effort] will tell.

Spring animals

Well hello there! I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. Ours was fast and furious as we made a last minute trip to see family. But we are back now, and I'm trying my hardest to carve out some time to create/blog/shower. I decided a bit late that I needed a few spring animals to grace the blog...

I know that robots aren't typically depicted as spring animals, but I went blank on a third type and looked up at my peg board of paintings for inspiration and saw a robot. So, a spring robot it is!

Happy Spring!

Monday Mini

Inspiration struck the other night, and I ran to my studio to make this little guy:

He only measures 5 x 7"
I don't know what it is about things in miniature that makes me love them so. I have a bit of an obsession with tiny things...tiny food, tiny furniture, tiny houses, tiny cities. If I see something in miniature, I want it. Maybe that's why  I bought a ton of tiny canvases, or we have a ridiculous amount of Lego sets, or why I convinced Audrie that miniature dollhouse furniture is so much better than it's plastic Barbie counterparts, or why I want to build a playhouse village in our game room... to feed my obsession.

Anyway, this guy's tiny, which makes him uber cute.

Happy Monday!

Getting Crafty

Saturday morning I woke up way too early and couldn't go back to sleep. It's always quiet in the wee hours of the morning because I live in a family of night owls who make up for their nightly escapades by sleeping late. But about an hour into my peaceful morning of doing laundry and stuffing my face with vittles, I heard a rumbling thunder from my studio. My progeny were awake and up to something. Curious, and slightly concerned, I went upstairs to see what all of the hustle and bustle was about. I found this:

My two children were excitedly working on a project for Baby Boy. I had mentioned a month or two ago that I wanted the kids to make a stuffed toy for their brother. For some reason, this was the morning they got the itch to do it. I found material strewn across the studio, an assortment of buttons laid out on the quilt top, and plans for several robot plush toys. The winning robot was this one:

He's not stitched together yet, but he's super cute, and I can't wait to add him to the room.

Finally…

I finally added these guys to my shop. Feel free to buy them. I don’t mind. Really. I don’t.

If you don’t buy them, I’ll sick this storm trooper on you.

DSC_0002

Just kidding. It’s not really a storm trooper. It’s just Audrie.

She can be quite the feisty one, though, so if I were you, I’d consider buying the paintings.

Harvey the Robot

Little Harvey here just made his way to The Wondercraft airstream trailer, and is waiting for someone to take him home.

harvey Harvey joined some more small birdie paintings of mine, as well as a plethora of handmade gifts and goodies by local Austin artisans, which are all housed inside Stella, the airstream trailer. If you’re ever in the Austin area, you should definitely stop by and see all that The Wondercraft team has to offer.

To learn more about The Wondercraft and what they do, check out their site.

Also, check back later this week. I’m finally going to update my Etsy shop with more goodies. And now that I’ve told you here on this blog, I have to do it, which means I’ve got to go make the stuff now.

IF: Idle

robot1

With new and improved helper robots hitting the market, this Dot Bot model # 67 was quickly replaced.  And because he was idle, this little robot rusted.

robot2

This little guy is part of my effort to create enough inventory to sell tomorrow at Blues on the Green with other talented Etsy Austin members.   He is a combination of book pages, scrapbook paper, acrylic paint, buttons and hand stitching.  I’ve been in a mad dash here at the end to get a lot of paintings finished before the big day tomorrow.  I’ll be posting pictures of more of the new stuff soon, so check back!  And anything that doesn’t sell at Blues on the Green will go into my little shop.  Plus, I’ve got some new prints of some of my illustrations that will be making their way to the shop as well!
