Happy Valentine's Day!

This is my latest digital illustration. I love this little robot. He is the main character of one of my books. This is the first time I've attempted to paint him digitally, and I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out.

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

The Lookout

Here's one of a series of paintings I'm working on:

[The canvas behind the giraffe is the background for a companion piece]
I've been trying to loosen up my style and give it a sketchy quality. It's hard to tell much from this Instagram pic, but I'm getting there. I'm constantly fighting with the perfectionist in me, who wants to make everything smooth and polished. But I really like the results when my messy side wins out.

I hope to have a rhino, elephant, and zebra completed soon to keep these two guys company. And hopefully, I'll have my technological roadblocks fixed and can post quality pictures by then.

Tweet, tweet

I finally did it. I joined the Twitter. If you want to follow me, I'm @nessadeeart. I can't guarantee special offers, humorous bits of wisdom, or even more than a post a month, but I can guarantee that I have a Twitter account.

If I was a twitter logo, I'd probably be this bird. Not soaring, or chatting...just sitting lazily on a sagging high line wire, enjoying the view.

Latest works...

I've been madly working on some paintings lately, including these three...

It's all in preparation for something exciting!
I can't wait to share the big news with you, but you'll have to be patient for now [as will I]

Egg

Here's an oldie for illustration Friday. As a child I feared, or maybe hoped, that I might find a little chick in my breakfast.

IF: Crunchy

crunchy

When I read this week’s topic, all I could think of was the sound of footsteps walking through the snow. [Not that I hear that sound all too often living hear in Texas.] Plus, I’ve had a snowman theme lately, so I decided to stick with it. I kind of like drawing the little guys.

New in the Shop

These little guys are new in my shop, so go check ‘em out!

And I’m working on a bunch of new paintings to list before the Christmas holidays. My sewing machines are still not cooperating, so the paintings might be ready in time for Christmas 2010. Here’s a sneak peek of the paintings:

And do you see those two little things sitting in the middle of everything? Those are the two sewing machine needles I broke yesterday.

Patience…patience. Burning the sewing machines won’t solve anything.

Bag O’ Worms

feathers-bagoworms

Here’s my latest little birdie illustration. He’s for a project I’ve been working on for quite sometime now. I can see the end in sight…it’s barely visible, but it’s there.

This One’s A Keeper

If you were to come to my house, you might notice that there aren’t many pieces of children’s art like you see in my shop hanging in my house. I’m notorious for making art to sell, but never taking the time to create pieces for my own home, or my own children. Well, I finally sat myself down and made a piece to go in the kids’ bathroom. The idea was Audrie’s, and she has several other ideas for a whole matching set. I don’t know when or if I’ll get to the other paintings, but the fact that I made one to keep is a big accomplishment. Meet Miss Umbrella Bird:

umbrellabird3umbrellabird2 umbrellabird4 She’ll be hanging in the kiddos’ bathroom soon, and I’ll post pics once she’s up. And speaking of posting pictures of rooms, I had some requests after this post to show pictures of my kids rooms and I plan to soon…I just have to add a few finishing touches before I do so.

Time to run!
I had a little problem with the whiskers and they need to be fixed, but I wanted to submit something this week.

IF: Sour

Sour notes. Sometimes, our talents aren't as up to par as we think, such as in the case of this little bird. But, she loves what she does, so does it wholeheartedly!

It's been a while since I've posted an illustration, and it feels good to be back! I was without photoshop on my new computer for a while, and had a hard time posting illustrations without it! (I'm not that computer savvy.) Also, I have been consumed by a little
endeavor lately, so between trying to keep my daughter from summer boredom, and trying to keep up with the tornado that is my son, all of my free time (what little there is) has been going towards this project.

Have a good weekend!

IF: Wide

This little bird might have had a bit too much to eat!

I've been pretty busy lately working on some various projects, so I haven't had much time to devote to IF projects. I wanted to get something in for this topic, though, so I squeezed this little guy in between projects.

Have a great weekend!
