Summer Fun

Just a few pics from our trip to a summer carnival put on by my church. Audrie spent the majority of the time making sure the animals in the petting zoo were well fed. Finn had his first taste of cotton candy, and a nice chat with a donkey.

The Big Announcement

Well, here it is.....drum roll please......

I've opened a shop on the uber-huge venue of all things handmade that is Etsy!!

I just started my little shop a couple of days ago, and it's a work in progress, but it's open. Yay! I will be listing more items in the days to come, and as I complete new paintings. Right now, I'm offering original paintings mostly for children's rooms, but I eventually want to sell mixed media collages for the home, and maybe prints of paintings.

So, check out my little shop, and start spreading the news!

IF: Sour

Sour notes. Sometimes, our talents aren't as up to par as we think, such as in the case of this little bird. But, she loves what she does, so does it wholeheartedly!

It's been a while since I've posted an illustration, and it feels good to be back! I was without photoshop on my new computer for a while, and had a hard time posting illustrations without it! (I'm not that computer savvy.) Also, I have been consumed by a little endeavor lately, so between trying to keep my daughter from summer boredom, and trying to keep up with the tornado that is my son, all of my free time (what little there is) has been going towards this project.

Random, Random

Just wanted to share a few random thoughts/pictures/things that have been happening around here lately, so here goes:

I'm enjoying having my camera again after our week long separation. My cousin, who was driving through town on her way back from attending a wedding in east Texas sweetly returned my pal, along with a few travelling companions she acquired on the trip. They documented their adventure along the way.

Audrie's broken arm. A minor fall off of her scooter resulted in a buckle fracture on her right wrist. She started with a hot pink cast, and is currently sporting one in a patriotic red.

I love my lantanas that we planted in the backyard. They make me happy!


We made a fine discovery on the sidewalk in our neighborhood. I don't think I've ever seen a dragonfly so big. He's been sitting on our table for 3 days now, but I'm determined to look at his wings through the microscope before we respectfully discard him.

Pop Tarts are delicious and not to be shared, according to Finn.

Lazy summer days are all the rage around here. Made even better with freezer pops!

Fireworks are magical!

And last, but not least, there's a reason why I haven't been posting art lately, why my house has acquired a colony of dust bunnies, and why my kids have been spending a lot of time with their electronic babysitter (i.e. the TV). Here's a sneak peak of something I've been working on for the last few months:

Tuesday...the new Sunday

Did I say I was going to post some more pictures on Sunday? Uh....by Sunday, I actually meant Tuesday. Due to some unforeseen events (Internet problems, my daughter's short-lived virus which reared its ugly head after viewing the first 10 minutes of WALL-E at the theater), time jumped and it's now 2 days after I promised to post some of my favorite color pictures. (Don't worry, the theater kindly gave us a rain check, and we went back to view the rest of WALL-E last night. I highly recommend it!) Oh, and I was safely reunited with my camera which happened to have a few more pictures on it than when I left it a week ago. I'll post about that in the days to come.

I think I got a litttle carried away. Remind me to never try to narrow down 5 years worth of pictures into a few favorites again. I think it might be Wednesday already with the amount of time I've been sitting here.

Camera Blues

I'm really missing my camera right now. I left it at my aunt's house last weekend and I've been without my photo taking friend all week. I will be reunited with my camera tomorrow, but in the meantime, I just had to post some pictures. So, here are a few favorites from the days before blogging:
I don't know what I was thinking posting some of my favorites. I've been sitting here for an hour trying to pick a few from what I'm sure has got to be close to a billion pictures. I've limited this group to black and white pictures, and I'm going to have to post some more tomorrow because there are just too many to choose from.
