To Do:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. We spent the weekend with my husband's family to celebrate the occasion, and while I tried to get a "Mother's Day post" ready before we left, I ran out of time. So, to all the Mom's out there, Happy belated Mom's Day! I hope your day was filled with joy! And speaking of joyous occasions, the offspring that have forever labeled me as a mom are staying with my in-laws until Friday. (I'm doing a little jig right now if you can't see me.) Anytime the kids stay with family, I try to take advantage of the free time to get a few things done. Here's my list for the week (written in bright colors on a neon yellow piece of paper so I can't ignore it unless I hide it under the bed which is where it is at the moment):
I ran out of room before I could finish. The list also includes "sew decorative trim to living room curtains, clean the whole house including dusting, sew curtains for breakfast room, make a quilt, run a marathon, and on and on and on....." Okay, I might be a little ambitious given that I only have 3 days to finish everything and I'm wasting all of my time writing this blog post. I tend to do this a lot....you know, have too many things to accomplish in a short amount of time so much so that I start a bunch of projects and don't finish any of them and I don't get to mark them off my list which is the most satisfying part of getting things done. If I was more realistic, I would write "Finish 1 illustration for Feathers" "Pick 1 closet and clean it out." But who am I kidding. If I'm being truly honest with myself, this is what my list would look like if I really want the satisfaction of marking things off:

I like this list. It's going up on my fridge.

I think you can add "Run for the Senate" and "Take more speed" to the first list. The second list seems perfect, actually. You could even whittle it down to only the second item if you're swamped for time. So enjoyed seeing you this weekend!

I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud reading your lists--both of them!

(just wait until your kids are teenagers--then it'll change a little. My older boy is going away to college next year, and I will miss him fiercely, but right now, day to day, I'm happy to see him when he's home, but don't particularly miss him when he's not--it's cleaner and quieter)
